"Hi spaceman" said Jack releasing the grip on his sister as he looked down at her, her face beaming back up at him.
"That’s spacewoman thank you very much" grinned Emily as she flung her arms around James once more. "Jack" she said pulling away sufficiently enough so that she could make eye contact with him. "I’m scared"
"Of course you are" explained James in the typical big brother tone, which he adopted whenever talking to Emily. "You know that you are the best man…sorry woman for the job, you must be if you beat me to it"
Emily’s head dropped as James said this prompting him to cuddle her reassuringly, tears beginning to well up in her deep hazel eyes. Jack took her hand in his left hand and ran his free hand down her cheek lapping up the one single tear with his thumb as he spoke to her.
"Nobody understands my dream more than you Emily because you share my exact same dream. How many people will have the opportunity that you have ahead of you?"
"You gave me that opportunity, big brother...the blood you shed in the pro-wrestling ring...paid my tuition...and your love and support...saw me through to the finish."
Jack shook his head. He indicated to the shuttle at the launch pad still standing tall and proud.
"You earned your way...with your hard work, your smarts...and your grit. Some people may be able to say that they have seen a shuttle on television but I can say that my sister went into space and I can tell them just how proud I am of the person that I love most in the world."
Emily wrapped her arms as far as they'd reach around her brother's wide torso, sobbing into his chest as she hugged him. And then she was gone.
Jack did not move from the spot he was on until he heard the mighty roar from the engines and rockets from the shuttle thrusting it into the sky and out of the earths atmosphere towards the stars, finally her dream had come true. Once, he'd shared her dream of ascending to the stars. But, when he'd put aside his goal of becoming an astronaut, dropping out of school and becoming a professional wrestler to pay his sister's way through college, things had changed. At first, it was something he was doing purely for the sake of his sister. He was a jobber, taking beats for a buck to pay her tuition Then he'd gotten his first win and heard the roars of adulation from the crowd that came along with it.
That was when Jack Edward disappeared, replaced by someone else. Someone not quite of this Earth. That person occupied Jack Edwards body, hiding in secret behind his face and identity. Jack Ewards had made a promise to his sister...and now that that promise had been kept...it was time to do away with the outer shell...and let the wrestling world...in particular, the Warrior Wrestling League...meet what lay beneath...
...it was time for them to meet the one creature in the entire breadth of material existence...who held the very power of space in his hands...
He didn't dream of flying to the stars, for he was the living, walking, breathing majesty of space itself...
HE WAS SPACEHAWK!
